What Sets Us Apart

To put things simply, we train dogs how dogs train each other. We teach our handlers to speak in terms that dogs understand, creating very clear criteria that sets our teams up for success. Unlike large box-store corporations, we are truly allowed to customize our training approaches based on each individual's needs. Each team's training regimen is designed with realistic goals in place, and takes into account the individual's personal preferences, as well as the dog's personality type. You will always be provided with thorough explanations of the options presented to you, and will be encouraged to implement safe animal management skills into whatever routines are developed.

Training FAQs

  • Please bring a flat leash or slip lead (no retractable or bungee leashes), and your dog's favorite soft treats.

    For any scheduled training appointment:

  • Behaviors such as jumping and leash pulling are classic examples of a dog lacking impulse control and an understanding of your boundaries. Resolving these issues requires consistent leadership on your part as the handler. You will be taught these skills during your training session, but it will your responsibility to uphold them at all times to see results.

    It takes time and consistency...

  • The majority of dogs do just fine in our group classes. We keep the numbers small so that each team enrolled has the opportunity for one-on-one attention throughout each weekly session. If you are concerned about your ability to manage your dog in a group setting, it is recommended to schedule a private lesson beforehand! During this session, your dog will be evaluated for the group class, and you will be taught a variety of skills to help grow and maintain your dog's attention.

    In most cases, yes!

  • The simple answer is, no. Our facility is not equipped to handle severe cases of aggression. However, it is extremely common for other behavioral issues (such as reactivity, general mouthiness, barking, and lunging) to be misinterpreted as aggression. During a private lesson, our trainer will be able to evaluate your dog to determine the underlying cause of a behavior, and whether or not we can work with you. Dogs determined to exhibit real aggression will be recommended to a trainer with a facility equipped to safely address the issues.

A private lesson to evaluate is the first step.

K9 Foundations

The K9 Foundations class is a 6-week course covering basic obedience skills sit, down, and place, and starting concepts such as recall, loose-leash walking, and implied stays. This class meets weekly to discuss a variety of training topics, trouble-shoot behavioral issues, and practice social neutrality.

Students will have the opportunity to test for the AKC Canine Good Citizen title at the end of this course.

Board and Trains

Don't have time to lay the ground work of training yourself? Sign your pet up for a Basic Skills Board and Train session! Your dog will stay with us for one week to learn basic commands (sit, down, and place), and start more difficult concepts (recall, stay, and leash walking). Because of the short amount of time in this session, this course is NOT for dogs with behavioral issues such as severe anxiety or nervousness, aggression, reactivity, or resource guarding.

Private Lessons

These hour long one-on-one sessions are great for owners with a handful of specific questions that need answered. These private sessions often serve as behavioral evaluations, and include goal-setting and formulating a plan for achieving desired results.

Private lessons are excellent options for those who are unsure if their dog will benefit from a group class, or for dogs needing to work on severe behavioral issues.
